Liverpool and England midfielder Steven Gerrard has hailed his international manager, Fabio Capello, as being an exceptionally astute coach, whose creativity and analytical skill have formulated a tactical system that seems to be bringing the best out of England's attacking talents, who are at last working in unison.
Particular notice has been taken of the way in which Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney have alternated left-wing duties with a more central role, just off the striker. Interchanging and combining with seeming ease in England's last two fixtures, the two formidable talents at last seem to have been deployed in a manner that renders each doubly effective.
"It's a pleasure to play with Wayne," Gerrard told Sky Sports.
"In this type of form it is easy to link up with him. He gives me good options and I'm enjoying playing with him.
"You don't get a CV like Fabio Capello's if you are not clever and know where to play people.

"He's a good manager and he seems to have found a solution to getting attacking players in the team and I'm enjoying it.
"My partnership with Wayne can just get better the more we play in these roles," Gerrard added. "I think the relationship is going to get stronger and hopefully it can be key in the future."
The Liverpool man, recently hailed by Brazilian superstar Kaka as "the complete player", also pointed to an improvement in the collective spirit of the national side, and how it was indicative of a more general improvement under Capello.
He concluded, "As a team, we are building. You can see how far we have come in a short space of time and there is still a long way to go until the World Cup, a lot more improving to do and hopefully we are a better team by the time the World Cup comes around."
