Arsenal forward Andrey Arshavin has expressed his delight at seeing the club captain Cesc Fabregas make his eagerly awaited return to the Gunners' line-up in their 2-0 victory over Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium yesterday.
Fabregas played for the first time since knee damage sidelined him in December, and the Catalan played a crucial role in both of Emmanuel Adebayor's goals in the win over the Citizens.
"We managed to play good and fast football and I think it was due to Cesc's brilliant play," Arshavin explained to The Daily Mail.
"He reads situations on the pitch so well and knows instantly how to organize an attack.

"Manchester City is one of the strongest teams in the Premier League. But having such strikers as Robinho and [Craig] Bellamy as well as a number of creative stars in midfield they couldn't defend the whole game the way Sunderland or Fulham do.
"That made our life easier. Of course we were lucky to score rather early in the game."
All is not perfect in the Russian's footballing world though, for he is troubled by a persistent foot injury. He is drawing a veil over the nature of the problem though, as he focuses on the positives rather than the negatives of Arsenal's current quickly improving situation.
He concluded, "There is a problem with my right foot but I wouldn't talk too much about it. It's my problem and I'm going to overcome it. The fact that I am playing means all is fine."
