Higuain Won’t Question Ramos’ Selection Decisions

Gonzalo Higuain remains Real Madrid’s leading scorer this season with 15 goals in the Primera Division but he has not been playing as much as he would have liked in recent weeks.

With new arrival, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar hitting top form and Marcelo and Arjen Robben cementing their roles out on the flanks, Higuain has not started in any of Los Blancos’ last three league outings while he has not played a match from beginning to end in La Liga since mid February.

But the Argentine is not bothered, and neither is he about to question coach, Juande Ramos’ decision.

“I do not know why I haven’t been starting regularly but these are the decisions of the coach,” he said in an interview with AS.

“I do not ask why when he puts me in the starting line-up and I am not going to ask why when he doesn’t. I only want him to know that I am at his disposal and I am ready to help the team because I am feeling great,” he added.

When told that many of the fans see Higuain as the perfect partner upfront for Huntelaar, he replied, “That is good to know. That’s the opinion of the public, those who look at us from the outside, and it is another option for the coach to consider.

“I feel comfortable playing alongside him, but also with Raul and Saviola. At the moment, Klaas is doing well because he is scoring goals, but one must not forget that Raul has 14 goals in the league and Saviola is a great player which is why he is here,” he elaborated.

In regards to the title race, ‘Pipita’ is confident that Madrid will be able to catch Barcelona and return to the Cibeles fountain for a third year in a row.

“We are six points behind them but I believe we can catch them because we have the team to do it,” he enthused.

“Now, we only have a game every week while Barcelona will have more. I don’t know if they will be distracted by the Champions League, but I’m sure they know that we are hunting them down.

“They are aware that they cannot relax and they will have to give their best if they want to win La Liga. Madrid will fight to the death to win it. And we all believe that we can go to the Cibeles at the end of the season,” he concluded.

Madrid will take on Malaga this Saturday immediately after Barcelona’s game at Real Valladolid.
