Rafael Da Silva has taunted fellow Brazilian Robinho by claiming he is set to match his superstar status after a stunning start to his Manchester United career.
Rafael is seen as United's long-term successor to Gary Neville at right-back and has been a revelation this season after being thrown into the first team earlier than expected.
And Rafael, who will tonight try to help United claim a Carling Cup final place when they take on Derby, said he knew he belonged at the highest level when he faced Robinho in the Manchester derby earlier this season. "Before that game, in Brazil, everybody was saying, 'Ah, Robinho' but 'Who is Rafael?'," he said. "But now the people in Brazil know who I am.
"We won the game and I traded shirts with Robinho afterwards. He just said, 'Good work' and wished me good luck for the rest of the season." Rafael, who along with twin brother Fabio was bought by United from Fluminese last January, also revealed how Neville and Wes Brown have helped him progress at Old Trafford.
"They are rivals, but they have helped me so much," said Rafael. "Gary is always telling me where the right position is to be. He has been very good to me."
