The Azzurri shot stopper believes the African champions are a more than capable outfit.
Italy gained three points by beating the United States, but goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon is expecting a sterner test against Egypt.
"We expect that Egypt, not only because of what they showed against Brazil, deserves great respect. If they are the champions of Africa there is a reason," he was quoted as saying by Datasport.
"They are a team that plays well, are fast, and has great individuality. We may suffer, but with compactness and the right desire we can win."
"Lippi knows the best way to manage, he has put in youth at the right time [before the World Cup 2006] and it will happen again. I am more convinced than ever this group has a lot to give. Many forget that the reputation [and the World Cup victory] of Italian football is because of our merit."
The 31-year-old has over 90 caps for the Azzurri.
