Arsenal are on a collision course with Togo after the Africans vowed to play Emmanuel Adebayor against Cameroon tomorrow.

The 28-year-old striker has been out for six weeks with a hamstring injury and is not due to return to club action until after the international break.

Arsenal had agreed he could join up with his national side on condition he did not play in the Accra match. But Togo coach Jean Thissen said defiantly yesterday: "Ade is here to play against Cameroon. He is the main man for the national team.

"He is my captain, the nation can count on him."

The comments will infuriate Arsene Wenger with his star striker at risk and the Gunners battling for the FA Cup, Champions League and fourth place in the Premier League.

Adebayor had been set for a place on the bench in the club’s next Premier League game - at home to Manchester City on April 4.

Wenger is particularly anxious over the African as he had initially only been ruled out for three weeks after picking up his injury against Spurs last month.

Meanwhile, AC Milan are said to be hatching a £35million plan to swoop for Adebayor this summer. Milan are set for a close-season revamp after crashing out of the UEFA Cup and trailing badly in Serie A.
