Arsenal can Beat Anyone, Arsene Wenger warns Manchester United

Arsene Wenger sent a Champions League warning to Manchester United after hailing Arsenal’s "brilliant" win over struggling Middlesbrough.

Wenger insisted they have nothing to fear at Old Trafford after Cesc Fabregas’s double extended Arsenal’s unbeaten Premier League run to 20 games. Gunners boss Wenger even shared a pre-match chat with Sir Alex Ferguson at the Emirates yesterday - and joked Fergie had only come for the red wine.

Wenger said: "What is important on Wednesday night is that we are at our best. When we are at our best we can beat anybody.

"It is best not to speculate on any weakness of Manchester United because they have experience. But if we are at our best then we have a good chance and we can do it.

"Boro played in a very positive way, but we dominated, played some brilliant passing, brilliant combination and the first goal especially was absolutely outstanding.

"We wanted to keep the momentum going. It’s better today to win than to lose and to rest players.

"If you go to Old Trafford without belief you make it very difficult from the start for yourselves. But we’ll go there with belief."

Wenger’s only worry was a back injury to defender Mikael Silvestre which gives him a "50-50" chance of being fit.

But he says two-goal hero Fabregas is back to his best. Wenger added: "Cesc gets sharper and sharper from game to game. He was out for three months and you can’t come back at your best straight away."
