MLS Getting $10 Million For Beckham's Milan Loan Extension

Major League Soccer have received a healthy sum in exchange for a longer loan spell at AC Milan for David Beckham.

Major League Soccer recently reached an agreement with AC Milan with regards to extending David Beckham's loan period at the Serie A club.

The agreement will see the MLS receive $10 million in compensation for the prolonged services of the decorated England international at the Italian outfit.

"We asked for $10 million, we got our $10 million," MLS commissioner Don Garber told a group of writers and editors Thursday at the Associated Press Sports Editors conference.

"We don't know where it's coming from, either. He can't get paid from Milan. Milan could pay us. He could pay them."

Beckham is rumored to have part-funded the loan move out of his own pocket, something that hasn't sat well with the fans in the US. However, it is all part of Beckham's larger plan to remain a major contender for Fabio Capello's England squad.

"I don't know if he's going to leave after this season [or] whether we would want him back," added Garber.

Beckham is scheduled to rejoin the Los Angeles Galaxy on July 1 until the end of this year, at which point, the 33-year-old can terminate his contract with the American club and take up a full time position with the Rossoneri in 2010.
