Dimitar Berbatov has vowed to "make the non-believers into believers" - but insists he won't change his laid-back style.
Berbatov knows some Manchester United fans feel he has yet to live up to his club record £30.75million price tag and his work rate is in stark contrast to Wayne Rooney.
The striker has gone some way to winning over the doubters by scoring five goals in his last eight appearances and is determined to make everyone appreciate his qualities.
"Everyone has the right to an opinion," he said.
"Half the people might like me, the other half might not. But throughout my life I've had high expectations for myself so I just try to make the non-believers into believers.
"I think I can say I'm pleased so far with how my first season is going, but even when things are going great, I keep telling myself I need to do more.
"I'm a perfectionist, I set high standards. Everything I do, I want it to be perfect. I know it can't be perfect every time, but that's my aim. If it's near perfection, I suppose I'm happy."
Berbatov, 28, defended his relaxed approach and claims he is calm on the ball whereas some other players panic.

He says Sir Alex Ferguson (above) has always believed in his unique talent and this gives him the confidence to play the way he does. "I'm a relaxed guy," said the Bulgarian. "I play the way I do and I can't change my style. That's the way I prefer to play.
"I watch games and see guys who panic on the ball - they look so nervous on the ball. I sometimes know what I want to do before the ball comes to me so I can be calm. I still have to work to do before I'm completely happy with my game, but I'm getting there. The boss tells me not to change anything. He gives me the freedom to express my qualities.
"We're all different players here, not just the strikers. There are so many different qualities but mixed together we make a very strong team.
"That's the success of the manager and Manchester United. He's built a strong team with lots of different talents."
After a slow start, Berbatov has 11 goals, including the vital last-gasp-winner at Bolton and the clincher against his old club Tottenham in the FA Cup.
He has several more assists and says he gets more pleasure from making goals rather than taking them.
"I hope that people appreciate that as well as scoring goals, I sometimes take more pleasure from making an assist than scoring myself," he said.
"I just want to play my part in the team and help United win trophies with goals, assists and my play."
