Step aside Cristiano Ronaldo - Darron Gibson is the first name on the Manchester United teamsheet for the Carling Cup Final with Tottenham.
Boss Sir Alex Ferguson was so impressed with Gibson's starring role in United's 4-1 FA Cup win at Derby, that he took the unprecedented step of revealing the rookie midfielder would start against Spurs on March 1.
Gibson, 21, has been a regular for United in their latest march to Wembley and Ferguson claims he has earned his big chance.
Fergie said: "We've been trying to test him in games and his performance at Derby earned him a place in the Carling Cup Final.

"He's featured in all the games in the competition and deserves to play against Spurs, but this display confirmed his position there." Gibson capped his fine performance at Pride Park by scoring United's second goal. And the Ulsterman said: "I've had a good run in the Carling Cup this season playing in every game, and I'm really looking forward to the Final.
"I'm glad I scored, but the main thing is we got through." And Gibson, who has had loan spells at Royal Antwerp and Wolves, is taking his inspiration from United star Ryan Giggs.
Gibson said: "Ryan's 35 and every time he plays seems to get man of the match. He lives his life right and although he's a superstar, he doesn't have the lifestyle of a superstar."
