The Italian legend believes that the Villarreal player is his natural heir, and not just because of the same surname.
Many Italian fans still remember fondly Paolo Rossi and his goals, and now for next year's World Cup, they will have another Rossi to cheer on.
In fact, Villarreal forward Giuseppe Rossi has often been compared to his predecessor, not only because of a similar surname, but also due to his technical abilities.
"Obviously it pleases me that another Rossi is doing well in the national team," commented the 1982 World Cup hero to corriere.it.

"My times are far away, more than a quarter of a century has passed and that was another football.
"Apart from the surname, we do have something in common: he is quick and rapid, and is also technical. He knows how to play with the others because he has a good foot. I do see a bit of myself in him."
Italy will be hoping that the new Rossi will be leading the national team to another World Cup victory next year, just like 'Pablito' did over 25 years ago.
