Mourinho Eyes Future Move to Spain

Jose Mourinho on Wednesday admitted that he wants to move to Spain to try to win a La Liga title.

The Inter Milan boss is in his first season at the helm of a Serie A club but already he is looking on towards his next challenge.

"For me this is my first year in Italy, contracts can be torn up but I want to continue here," he told Italia 1.

"It hasn't been easy coming to Italy but since I've been at Inter no-one has been more of a fan than me.

"My dream is to win three championships in Europe: I've won in England with Chelsea, I'll do my utmost to win in Italy and then I want to also win in Spain."

Mourinho's Inter are seven points clear of second-placed Juventus at the top of Serie A with nine matches left to play.

In fact Mourinho already has titles in two different countries but in only one of the big three European Leagues.

At Chelsea the Portuguese boss won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and two League Cups.

But in his homeland with FC Porto he landed European honours as well as domestic success, claiming both the Champions League and UEFA Cup as well as two titles and the Portuguese Cup.

Ballack Strikes as Wales Suffer more World Cup Woe

Germany captain Michael Ballack took his side a step closer the 2010 World Cup finals with a brilliant long-range opening goal in a 2-0 qualifying win over Wales here on Wednesday.

Chelsea midfielder Ballack's strike from 30 yards gave Germany an early lead before an Ashley Williams own-goal secured victory for the Group Four leaders.

But Wales, reeling from last weekend's 2-0 loss to Finland which all but killed off their hopes of playing in next year's South Africa showpiece, restored some pride and might have had a penalty when Serdar Tasci handled when slipping in front of Joe Ledley.

Robert Earnshaw led Wales's attack in the absence of injured captain Craig Bellamy, who'd blasted his side after the Finland defeat.

Encouragingly for Wales, Arsenal teenage midfielder Aaron Ramsey did not look out of his depth against Germany but he was powerless to prevent Ballack letting fly with a dipping shot which gave keeper Wayne Hennessey no chance.

Wales though refused to be cowed and they were unlucky not to have a spot-kick in the 26th minute after Gareth Bale and Ledley combined down the left wing.

Tasci stumbled as he backed off the advancing Ledley inside the box and the defender's hand made contact with the ball. It seemed a penalty but referee Terje Haunge dismissed Wales's appeals.

Hennessey had to save well from both Thomas Hitzlsperger and Lukas Podolski to prevent Germany doubling their lead and it wasn't until after half-time they added a second goal.

Mario Gomez managed to send in a speculative cross and Williams, sticking out a leg, diverted the ball into his own net.

Riera and Alonso give Spain Victory

Liverpool's Albert Riera and Xabi Alonso scored for Spain to earn a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Turkey at the Ali Sami Yen stadium here on Wednesday to retain their 100 percent record in World Cup qualifying.

Star striker David Villa had been ruled out by Spanish boss Vicente Del Bosque because of knee problems and he fielded Fernando Torres as a lone striker in front of a five-man midfield.

Riera, Carlos Marchena and David Silva also came into the side in changes from Saturday's 1-0 Group Five win over the Turks in Madrid. Turkey coach Fatih Terim however kept the same starting line-up.

European champions Spain, in top spot in the FIFA world rankings, went behind in the 26th minute.

A long pass from Arda Turan into Spanish territory went to Tuncay Sanli. Semih Senturk was on the receiving end of the subsequent pass and managed to find the net.

Spain's equaliser came from Xabi Alonso from the penalty spot in the 62nd minute after Ibrahim Uzulmez had handled the ball in the area following a Torres header at the far post.

The winner came in the second minute of injury time when substitute Daniel Guiza went down the right flank and crossed for Riera to put the ball through the keeper's legs.

Toni's Naked Promise if Bayern Win Champs League

Italian World Cup winner Luca Toni has promised he will run naked around Munich's famous Marienplatz square if Bayern Munich win the Champions League trophy on May 27 in Rome.

The 31-year-old flamboyant striker only made his Champions League debut earlier this season, but his side play Barcelona in the quarter-final first-leg tie of Europe's elite competition at the Nou Camp stadium next Wednesday.

"If we bring the trophy back to Munich, I promise I will run around Marienplatz naked," the 31-year-old striker told sports magazine Sport-Bild.

But Toni's proposed naked dash in the heart of Munich looks unlikely.

If Bayern beat Barcelona in the last eight, they will then have to over come English giants Liverpool or Chelsea to take their place in the final at Rome's Olympic Stadium.

But Toni is adamant he will be happy to strip off if Bayern captain Mark van Bommel lifts the Champions League trophy in the Italian's native Rome.

"Rome is my goal," said Toni.

"I haven't won that many titles in my career and to win the Champions League is something which inspires me to play and train everyday."

And Toni, who won the World Cup with Italy in 2006 at Berlin's Olympic Stadium, said Bayern will have to prove themselves worthy winners against the best clubs in Europe.

"To win the Champions League, a team doesn't just need 11 professionals on the pitch, it needs 11 Lions, if you can use such an expression in Munich.

"Bayern have the potential to win the title: there are also bigger lions than us still in the running, but you there is no reason why the small lion can't seize the chance."

Toni has become a pin-up here since joining Bayern in the summer of 2007 and many German women will be crossing their fingers the defending Bundesliga champion bring the trophy back to Munich to see Toni's nude dash.

The Italian has been suffering with an achilles tendon injury since Valentine's day, but he warmed the hearts of Bayern fans with a run out on Wednesday and is set to face Wolfsburg on Saturday in the Bundesliga.

"Luca is hungry and he wants to play again, he is ready," said Bayern coach Jurgen Klinsmann.

And Italian defender Massimo Oddo is also expected to be back in action for Bayern in Wolfsburg having recovered from a calf strain.

Bellamy Out of Germany Match

Wales captain Craig Bellamy has been ruled out of Wednesday's World Cup qualifier against Germany here at the Millennium Stadium with a knee injury, the Football Association of Wales have confirmed.

The Manchester City striker has been struggling with a knee injury for the past month and had returned to his club for treatment.

Robert Earnshaw has now been asked by John Toshack, the Wales manager, to lead the attack in Bellamy's absence against Europe zone group four leaders Germany.

Last weekend's 2-0 loss at home to Finland left Wales struggling to get into even a play-off for next year's World Cup finals in South Africa,

Afterwards, a dejected Bellamy said: "That was two poor sides trying to contest this game and neither of us have got a glimmer of hope of qualifying.

"That is a fact, from what I've just seen today. Where we go from here, God knows. We've just got a lot of games to play and get as many points as we can but same old story, we're out of the group."

However, an FAW spokesman insisted Bellamy's comments had no bearing on his absence from the team to play Germany.

"Craig has difficulty playing two games in five days and, although we have tried to keep this quiet, he returned to his club today."

Wales have not qualified for the finals of a major football tournament since the 1958 World Cup.

Trapattoni Hopes Irish David Beats Italian Goliath

Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni likened Wednesday's clash against world champions Italy here to the biblical combat between David and Goliath.

The Irish come into the match second in group eight, just two points behind Italy but considered to be overwhelming underdogs.

However, Trapattoni is largely considered to be the greatest Italian coach of all time and his presence alone on the Irish bench has put doubt in the Italians' minds.

Such is his reputation here that he was given a round of applause on Tuesday as he entered the pre-match press conference.

"At home you applaud when you win and not before," he joked. "We could have come to Italy with the same points (as Italy) and we would have been happy with that and only that own goal (by Kevin Kilbane in a 1-1 draw against Bulgaria on Saturday) made the difference.

"At the begining of the season I thought we could do well but not as well as this because this is a tough group.

"But now we must think about climbing higher. Sometimes in Italy we think about the legend of David and Goliath. We are David and Italy are Goliath.

"Legends remain legends but I have a lot of trust and belief in my team. We have to believe in everything we've done so far, we still have five matches to go before the end of qualification and one of most important matches is going to be tomorrow's."

Trapattoni may be 70 years old and he has not coached in Italy for several years having spent recent years coaching in Germany, Austria, Portugal and now Ireland, but his philosophy has never changed.

For him the result has always been and always will be more important than the performance.

"Your analyses last for four or five days and after that they are forgotten but what remains is the result," he told journalists.

"You can't go out to play beautiful football. If you want a show go to the theatre but if you want a result come to watch football."

Trapattoni revealed that he had plenty of other offers before taking up this post with the Irish Football Association last year.

"I had two or three chances to chose other teams," he said. "I already knew (captain Robbie) Keane and I knew Liam Brady (who played for Trapp at Juventus).

"I chose this team for the (Irish) people. I have no doubt the Irish will get on very well with the Italians. There are a number of Italians living in Dublin and living very well."

For Keane this will be a special match as he is coming up against former coach Marcello Lippi, who signed him at Inter Milan back in 2000 before being fired only weeks later.

Even so, the Tottenham captain was impressed with what he saw of Lippi in the short time they worked together.

"It was only a few months that I did get to work with him but I could see how good he was with his experience over many years and as a man as well," he said.

"He always looked after you, I wish it could have been longer but it wasn't."

Now Keane is confident the Irish spirit can help his new boss get one over his former one.

"Ireland in the past have gone up against so called better teams but we've always seemed to do a lot better than we should over the years," he said.

"I've been chatting to the boys and we've got nothing to lose, people expect us to lose anyway so we're just going to go out and enjoy ourselves."
